PUBLIC MEETING SET FOR AIRPORT WAY/STATE ROUTE 120 INTERCHANGE PROJECT » Airport PowerPoint Presentation 1.82Mb (Stockton, CA)-Members of the public are invited to a public meeting to learn about a project that will improve the Airport Way Interchange at State Route 120. The meeting will be held on Monday, April 30, 2007, at the Manteca City Council Chambers, 1001 West Center Street, Manteca. At 7:30pm, the members of the project team will make a brief project presentation, followed by an opportunity for members of the public to comment and ask questions. Maps and other project exhibits will be available for people to view during open houses from 7:00pm – 7:30pm and again at 8:00pm after the presentation. Also, members of the project team will be available for informal discussions during the open house periods. The City of Manteca and Caltrans are developing the design alternatives, preliminary engineering, and environmental studies for the Airport Way Interchange at State Route 120 (SR 120). A Project Study Report is being developed by the City of Manteca to complete preliminary design and identify the alternatives to be carried forward in the environmental document. SR 120 serves local traffic within the Manteca area and inter-regional traffic between the Central Valley and the Bay Area. Improvements for Airport Way are being coordinated with planned future development on both sides of Airport Way south of SR 120. Access to residential development and commercial properties, including a major retail center, are being considered with the Airport Way improvements. This project would help to reduce congestion, improve traffic circulation and enhance safety. The City of Manteca is proactively pursuing this project and other interchange improvement projects to accommodate the future traffic demands along the SR 120 corridor prior to private development. Two interchange configurations are being considered in this study. Both interchange configurations include widening Airport Way to at least seven lanes, replacing the Airport Way overcrossing structure, and widening the on- and off-ramps. The second alternative would also include loop on-ramps in the northeast and southwest corners of the interchange. This project is being coordinated with other projects along the SR 120 corridor that will address enhancements to Park-and-Ride lots. The Project Study Report process includes preliminary engineering and determining the scope, cost, and schedule for a project. The City of Manteca anticipates that the Airport Way/SR 120 Interchange phased improvements would be designed and constructed based on a schedule coordinated with future traffic demands and future development. |
